The executive team of the McGill Choral Society consists of a group of McGill students, who work closely with our Musical Director, and strive to make your MCS experience the best possible! We are responsible for fundraising, book-keeping, and ensuring that our concerts and rehearsals are organized.

In addition to the Student Executive Team, we have a Senior Support Committee which consists of a group of older members of the choir. They offer their advice and experience to the Student Executive Team, and help us ensure that the choir runs smoothly.

Executive Team 2026-2027:

Clara McHaffie, President

Hi, my name is Clara and I’m a third-year student studying Strategic Management at McGill. I have sung in choirs for 12 years now and am so grateful to continue doing so with the McGill Choral Society! I’m looking forward to another amazing season! When I’m not singing, some of my hobbies include baking, skiing, and watching baseball.

Victoire Silvestre, Vice President

Hi! I’m Vic. I’m a third-year international student in Education TESL. I started singing in a children’s choir when I was 4, and for 10 years, I had the chance to travel across Europe and the US on tours. So when I arrived here in Quebec, I immediately chose to join this choir! Being part of MCS has been an amazing experience, and I wanted to give back by joining the exec team. I hope to help make this experience enjoyable for everyone!

Colin McKenzie, VP of Finance

Hi! My name is Colin, I’m a third year student studying Anatomy and Cell Biology. I’ve been singing in choirs since middle school, and I was in 3 ensembles in high school. I love being a part of MCS, and continue to be excited to help ensure the choir runs smoothly!

Clara Gaede-MacLaren, VP of Communication

Hi, I’m Clara, a U2 English literature student at McGill! I’ve been singing in choirs throughout my life, and I was more than happy to become a soprano in McGill’s choral society. As I also play violin, I really enjoy music from all sides and I am very happy to have become a part of the choir’s community 🙂 Apart from singing, violin and books I also do equestrian sports and travel as much as I can!

Bethany Bruce, Concert Manager

Hello! My name is Bethany, I’m a first year student in the faculty of arts and science at McGill. As a kid living in rural Ontario I was a part of a small community choir, tried piano, flute and my current project is learning acoustic guitar. MCS has become my music community here in Montreal and I’m so grateful to be a part of such a wonderful group of people!

Scarlett Brunel-Thouret, Music Director Assistant

Hi! My name is Scarlett, and I’m a first-year clarinet performance student at McGill University. Music has always been my passion, from composing to performing on instruments such as clarinet, piano, flute, oboe, or saxophone. I have sung in choirs for many years and am excited to continue with the McGill Choral Society! Outside of music, I enjoy reading poetry, dancing, and drawing.

Neil Weinberger, VP of Merchandise

Hello, my name is Neil and I am an undergraduate Political Science / International Development student at McGill. I’m from New York City, and I’ve been participating in choirs and singing for my whole life! I’ve always sought places where I could participate in large orchestral / choral pieces, much due to my love of Gustav Mahler, and the McGill Choral Society more than fit the bill. I look forward to singing interesting and exciting pieces with you all!

Ava Isotta-Riches, MAA Liason

Hi! My name is Ava, and I am a Second Year student at McGill studying History and Economics. I was part of my high school’s concert choir, and singing has always been something I really enjoy! Outside of singing, I love canoeing and working with kids, especially through my summers at camp. I am very excited to be singing again with the MCS this year!

Honorary Members:

Jean-Frédéric Olivier

Hello everyone! My name is Jean-Frédéric Olivier, and I am a Tenor in the McGill Choral Society choir since Spring 2019. I am currently a PhD student in Biochemistry at the McGill Research Center on Complex Traits in Dr. Gros laboratory, but even though my primary curriculum is in science, I love music in all its form, particularly choir singing. When I am not doing research or rehearsals (I am also a member of 2 other amazing choirs, Phoebus and Coeur du Plateau), I usually give my time to a not-for-profit organization, the CDTL, to help integrating young school dropouts into the labor market. Oh! And I love cooking, especially tasty vegetarian recipes.

Marek Borik

Hi! My name is Marek Borik and I sing tenor voice. I finished BSc in Computer Science five years ago. I have always loved playing the guitar and singing for myself and my friends, but I wanted to improve my level of singing, so I decided to join a choir. I have been part of MCS since Fall 2022 and been absolutely loving it. My hobbies include travelling, camping, hiking, playing or listening to music, reading and writing poetry… there are so many things to keep me busy! I also wrote, shot and edited several short films since high school and spent 3 years in the film club “The Plumber’s Station McGill”, so I utilize my experience with recording the choir performances for YouTube and live-streaming the rehearsals.

Sofia Lang

Hi! My name is Sofia, and I recently graduated from McGill with a BSc in Anatomy and Cell Biology. For the past 4 years I was stage manager, then VP, then president of MCS and I am very grateful to still be helping out!! I was part of my high school’s chamber and jazz choir ensembles and was a big musical-theatre kid growing up. Singing is one of my biggest passions and I love being part of the MCS community! I also really enjoy cooking, reading books, and travelling.

Roufaïda Lamrabet

Hello! I’m Roufaïda Lamrabet, a Soprano with the McGill Choral Society. In addition to my full-time job, I am a freelance social media manager. I was part of a choir in my home country of Morocco for 10 years. After moving to Canada, I discovered the McGill Choral Society and immediately felt at home when I joined. I have used my experience and skills to help manage the choir’s social media presence. Beyond singing and marketing, I also have a passion for painting, which I enjoy in my free time.
